And yes, we do have a Farm!
Our four-acre farm produces a variety of fruits and vegetables and serves as a hands-on job-training site. Under the direction of our farm manager, youth crew members learn practical agriculture skills, teamwork, and workplace responsibility that transfer to future employment.
We try our best to minimize waste by recycling plant material and food scraps into compost that’s used directly on the farm. Our crew applies it through a deep-mulching system that simplifies maintenance, reduces weeding, and creates raised beds for stronger crop growth. This approach teaches youth how to work efficiently, solve problems with available resources, and understand the full cycle of production.
We also raise sheep, goats, and hogs for meat. Under staff supervision, youth assist with daily animal care and pasture management. They learn responsibility, routine, and safe handling practices that translate to a variety of agricultural and trade careers.
Our produce is available at our Drumm Farm Market, held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, April through October. In addition, we provide weekly produce bags at no cost to the foster families living on our campus. We believe in the importance of community interdependence, showing up for one another and ensuring that fresh, healthy food is accessible to all.
